“Spike” is the twelfth studio album by Elvis Costello, released after a two-year creative hiatus. For this album he collaborated with such greats as Paul McCartney, Roger McGuinn (The Byrds) and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band. The result of this collaboration is an album full of diversity: soul, Broadway, rockabilly, pop. The album cover reads “The Beloved Entertainer”, and critics could not but agree. It reached #5 in the UK album charts and #32 in the Billboard 200, and the lead single and most famous hit “Veronica” reached #19 in the Billboard Hot 100 and even #1 in the US Modern Rock charts.
“Spike” is available for the first time as a 2LP and includes the track “Coal Train Robbers”. The album is housed in a gatefold sleeve and available in a limited edition of 2500 individually numbered copies on Light Green vinyl selected by Elvis Costello himself.
