Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard And Soft

She may have only turned 22 a few months ago, but for over half a decade she has been regarded as an absolutely unique and influential artist of our time, the voice of her generation – in 2024 she is back with new music: Billie Eilish is releasing her third studio album “Hit Me Hard And Soft”.

The first viral hits at 14 were followed by the acclaimed debut album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”, which went straight to number 1 in 18 countries at the beginning of 2019 – and also achieved platinum status in Germany, among other countries. Starting the current decade with a Grammy record as the first female artist to win in all four main categories, the US singer also took home her first Oscar for the Bond theme song “No Time To Die”. Now a 9-time Grammy and two-time Oscar winner, the most recently released album “Happier Than Ever” (2021) even went to number one in 20 countries – framed by 16x platinum and other gold awards. She won her second Oscar for her Barbie contribution “What I Was Made For”.

The third album “Hit Me Hard And Soft” is clearly the most daring album statement of her career, as Eilish let it be known in advance. The album title actually says it all: it is an incredibly emotional work that touches, that deals out hard and soft blows, in which the 22-year-old repeatedly pushes new genre boundaries in terms of content and sound. Above all, the multiple Grammy and Oscar winner relies on her instincts again this time and once again underlines why she is considered the most exciting songwriter of our time.
