“Aladdin Sane” is released as a picture disc LP. This new pressing was cut on a custom Neumann VMS80 lathe with all-new electronics from the restored 192kHz masters of the original Trident Studios master tapes, with no additional processing during transfer.
Not only the album, but also its cover holds a firm place in the history of rock music. It shows Bowie in his now long iconic makeup with the red-blue lightning bolt on his face – an image that has indelibly imprinted itself on cultural memory worldwide (right down to the official emoji). The cover photo was shot by Brian Duffy, who also photographed the covers of “Lodger” (1979) and “Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)” (1980).
