Red Hot Chili Peppers: Return Of The Dream Canteen

It was only in April of this year that the Red Hot Chili Peppers celebrated something of a minor comeback. “Unlimited Love” was the Californians’ first new album in six years and also marked the return of guitarist John Frusciante and producer Rick Rubin. In this constellation around the turn of the millennium popular greats of the band, such as “Californication” and “By The Way” were created.

That’s the sound Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith and John Frusciante approached again with “Unlimited Love,” winning over fans and critics alike. This is the sound that only the Red Hot Chili Peppers can play and for which they are dearly loved all over the world.

Back in July, the band announced that recording sessions at Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La studios resulted in far more songs on tape than made it onto “Unlimited Love.” “We just wrote a bunch of music, on and on, with no time constraints, and then we ended up recording all those songs. We always record more songs than end up on the album, but then usually the rest of the tracks stay in the archives or never get finished” says the band about the process of creating “Return Of The Dream Canteen”. “But this time we finished them all. We just felt we had too many good songs not to release another album. The album is not a collection of B-sides or anything like that. Everything felt good and right.”

The two pre-released singles “Tippa My Tongue” and “Eddie” promise another classic Red Hot Chili Peppers album in the best sense and show the band in absolute top form.

“Return Of The Dream Canteen” will be released as a CD, as a double LP on 140 gram black vinyl, as a double LP deluxe edition in gatefold cover with poster and as a limited indie edition on purple vinyl.
